Please join us Saturday, January 6th at 5PM, for Josh Cabello‘s dance activation of his painting 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘢 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, currently on view in 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐀 & 𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐇, a group exhibition with Josh Cabello, JD Raenbeau and Josh Rabineau - to celebrate the closing day of the show.

Josh Cabello’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘢 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 is inspired by a film still from 𝘐𝘵 𝘐𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘐𝘴 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦, 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘏𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴, a 1971 German avant-garde film directed by Rosa von Praunheim that is credited with catalyzing much of the modern gay rights movement in Germany and Switzerland.

For his performance, Cabello will project clips from the film onto his painting while transforming the two dimensional canvas into our three dimensional world with a modern dance performance in conversation with both entities. By interweaving contemporary figurative painting, cinema projection, and dance, Cabello will connect the past to the present in seamless conversation, revealing that still, community and connection can save us all.
